Getting a new car this week, take a look.

Its a 1998 Grand Prix GTX. The GTX is a rare Grand Prix GTP converted by SLP(Street Legal Performance). The improvements include the Ram Air Hood and Ram Air Cold Air Intake. SLP is the same company that did the Firehawk conversions on the Firebird Trans Am's.

3.8 Ltr V6 Supercharged
Heads Up Display
Heated Leather Seats
6disc CD Changer
12 inch break upgrade
3.4 inch Supercharger Pully (.4inches smaller then stock = more boost = more horespower)
Borla Catback Exhaust
SLP Cold Air Intake

I'll be keeping my current 1997 Grand Prix GTP so I beat her up at the Drag Strip.

Nice. Know how much horsepower it is?

Someday I'd like to own another car and do some work on it. Its probably not worth tearing out the guts of my 99 mazda protege since I'd have to replace its (I think) 4 cylinder engine just as a start.

Hmm, upgraded SC, intake and exhaust I would imagine would be a slightyly larger gain...depending on how much more boost the sc has. /not a ricer

And to whoever said the '99 pro isn't worth some time, the 2003 protege is the base for the Mazdaspeed protege...which fucking owns. You can do a lot to those cars short of ricing them out. I just bought a Mazda3, which is the evolved Protege, and it's a great f'in car.

4 bangers that rock: WRX/STI, Lancer EVO, Toyota MR2, Mazdaspeed Miata...more I'm sure. The Evo alone makes like 300 hp, and a limited run european model is said to be around 400...and it handles like a BMW...can't beat it.

Not to go and start a car thread...just saying.

I'm not much for imports but I do like it when someone takes a 4 banger like the evos/wrx's/dsm's and such and rapes V8's at Norwalk Raceway Park. Nothin but spect for them fools.

My Proteges a DX which is the lowest end I believe. The more recent ones are nicer. Not that I'm gonna pretend like I know alot about cars or anything. I checked online once and the engines 1.6 or 1.8l.

I would like to do some nice things to it. With gas prices, if anything I do to it fucks with gas to the mile I probably won't bother.

"What kind of mileage you get with that thing, 12 to gallon?"

"9"

Ya I lowballed a bit on my guestiment. Stock the Grand Prix have 7lbs of boost. I would say with the pully on the car now it should be in the neighborhood 9-11 lbs of boost, worth around 20 hp or so. Intake should add between 5 and 10 hp and the exhaust should be just about the same. so anywhere from 30 to 40 hp over stock in my estiments. I still may be a lil modest.
