heres procedure at my best buy for hard drives that were thought to be unfixable. geeksquad throws them in a box till it was full. brings them back to the whare house and throws them in the compacter. that was untill i challenged the head of our geek squad and suggested 60% of the drives were probably fine. so she gave me about 30 drives and said fine you take them home and try to fix them. i havent tried all of them but 4 of them worked just fine with no effort. best buy sucks, dont go there.
