EVE Online Free Trial
Hey, its not a particularly overly or even close to being linear in gameplay, but its in space and you shoot stuff and the graphix rool, so go to the sight and play it immidiatly or suffer the doomy doom of death.
Click Here for Hawtness A+++++ would sniff again The story is, in the future everyone in space is a member of some corporation, which is the only way space travel can be afforded, you start in a training academy (well actually in space til you learn to fly) then get in touch with an Agent from your Corps. From there they give you all kinds of crazy missions that acclimate you to the game. Some missions are simple, go out, kill, come back, money! Some are a lil boring but pretty. Go out, jump to a system, pick up porn holograms, jump back, deliver, MONEY! Yay, you do this to gain bigger and better ships so you do more fun killy missions cuz once your trips hit 10 systems, you pretty much put it in windowed mode and read penny arcade while you wait. It has some good qualities, the gamers are REALLY part of the game politics, their actions affect galactic politics, like shooting someone in some system could ignite a war, or ignite a screaming banshee of bounty hunters to begin searching for a criminal base in the system and blow up your mom or something. Anyway, its a really cool game, find me on there on the Galleante Side, I'm around the Uni of Callae in the Nexus Cluster working as a Biologist and courior. it's not very fun... i tried playing their other free trial about a year ago, and it was pretty much the most boring MMO ever. you don't really have free control over your ship (a.la a space flight sim) and all i could see of the game was mining asteroids, boring (MMORPG-style) combat, and warping between points in the galaxy with almost no direct control over what your ship would do in the between (read: you'll be doing a lot of waiting while the ship travels the distance of a galaxy... *yawn*). it's kinda like the game equivalent of the novel Gateway with all of the boredom and none of the tension and excitement.
(btw, there was an adventure game made based on Gateway and it is quite good) |

"Hey, its not a particularly overly or even close to being linear in gameplay"
It's as if millions of English teachers cried out, and were suddenly silenced.
