Adobe
Adobe has bought Macromedia for $3.4 billion. They will now be called Adobe Systems Incorporated. The company said in a statement:

"The combination of Adobe and Macromedia strengthens our mission of helping people and organizations communicate better. Through the combination of our powerful development, authoring and collaboration tools

Hopefully it will be. Hopefully it won't be an excuse to charge even more. Photoshop ($600) + Fireworks ($150) = logically a combined price of $750!

yeah seriously, the shit is expensive enough as it is.

i would love to own a current copy of that stuff though. my versions feel a little dated (like circa 2001-2002).

honestly, thegimp is the best photo software i've used, and it's free. in minutes i was doing everything i use photoshop for, and it's much easier to use. only problem is it's a little complicated to install on windows.

i have always found the gimp to be a pain in the ass even under linux.

I think it'd be interesting to see what Adobe does with Fireworks. And maybe something with Dreamweaver.
