Legal Music, what's that?

According to Nielsen SoundScan, music downloads from legal pay services have tripled in the first half of 2005 as opposed to 2004. What are you people thinking!?

(I mean, of course I'm part of that percentage increase).

i'll probably start using itunes to buy random songs that i like, because it's only 99 cents for a song. but i'd probably never buy a full album on itunes, even though it's a decent price, because if i want a whole album i'm going to want the whole package--liner, album art, cd.

i pretty well only buy music anyways.. i just use the internet to sample things that i don't know about before i spring for the cd.

I have purchased music on both napster and itunes, and cannot for the life of me remember which of the two had better quality. Even still, both services sucked imo. Maybe once they offer a little more freedom with it.

I'm curious on the free rhapsody thing, anyone tried it or looked at it?

sharkz is an unknown quantity at this point
slightly off topic but thought the other musicians here might find this handy:

i had been wondering how you contact apple to get your own music for sale on itunes. after a while i finally found this:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/musicmarketing/

if you look on the right there's a link to the application form.
havn't heard back yet but figured it was worth a try.

I have Napster. I pay $12/month ... but I keep all of my music because I copy it all. Mwah.

Ah, you use the monthly service...I had thought about that, dunno, maybe after I'm back to work I'll consider snagging one or the other...I've never been opposed to doing away with piracy..but, there's times when that's all one can afford

2-3 years ago i would have laughed at paying for music online. now every once in awhile i think it wouldnt be too bad for a song or two.

i still dont do it, but i rarely ever pirate anymore (again, a few years ago is a different story) and i continue to buy a large amount of CD's, so the RIAA can't really get too mad at me.
