DC++ hub?

I'm not sure if this topic has ever been brought up, but, what would you guys say to a Direct Connect hub? The hub wouldn't be that big, since there aren't many active members, but, hey, why not?

Remember the days when just about every Deks/TTT member had their own FTP? Everybody swapping the same Playstation and DreamCast rips.

Direct Connect is a type of p2p app, where users join/create different hubs and share their files.

We could have a TTT hub, and whoever wants to can join and share their files.

jep tried to start something like this up a while ago (with grouper), and it was a failure. i think it was only jep, neil, sharkz, wonko, and i who downloaded the program and joined the group, and even then, i hardly ever went online, and i don't remember ever seeing wonko online. very little file sharing went on, i think :(

I've got quite a bit to share but while grouper was going i was at Rezidence with their rediculous firewalls so that people couldn't download off me at anything faster than 1kb/s. I should have a better upload speed now and i've got tons of music and movies to share. I'm in. Insofar as it is legal, *ahem*.

i'd be all about it.

note: DC is alot better that grouper. especially because you're actually downloading files not just streaming them.

Yea, Grouper blows.

Who wants to run the DC++ hub? I'd offer to run it, but my folks make me turn my computer so it doesn't run up the bills. You don't need a super fast connection to run the hub or anything, just a reliable connection.

is there a way to switch up who runs it? i got a nice upstream but i'd rather not have to dedicate my computer to keeping something up.

I suppose 2 or 3 people could rotate if they wanted. Only thing is we'd need to keep the IP to the hub updated as it was being hosted by somebody else.

Um..that was easy.

Hub is thetesttube.kicks-ass.net port 1090
Right now if you don't have 1KB of share stuff, it won't let you connect, and I don't see how to change it.

So share a fucking text file or something.
