hockey!!
wooooooooooooooooooooooo!
had to wait a while, but oh well. tonight the leafs play ottawa, and even though ottawa looks like a much better team than toronto this year, i think we can handle those pesky senators. unfortunately, i have to go out for a while this evening, but i hope that i can get home in time to catch some of the second and/or third period. but even if i miss it all, there are still many games ahead to watch. also, it should be interesting to see how gretzky does as a coach, and how some of the rookies perform. it will be an interesting season. |

my roommate didnt sleep at all getting ready for the flyers opener tonight.
he's out of his mind. i just started getting interested in hockey because of his fanaticism, so i guess i'll be watching a lot of flyers this year.

a lackluster effort put forth by the flyers... i figured a huge roster change would fix some of their problems, like completely fizzling out at the end of the game, giving up a decent lead, and not taking advantage of power plays

I flipped from a baseball game to the uh..Columbus and some team game in time to catch a fight, that was my fill of hockey for the night.

actually the flyers are looking really good this year; a definite stanley cup contender, it seems like. i just hate! them because they knocked toronto out of the playoffs. the flyers always seem to have the leafs' number.. :/ sort of like how toronto always beats ottawa in the playoffs, no matter how well ottawa does in the season.

philly is always picked to do really well (maybe even take home the cup!) but they never do it. |

i dunno, every year before the seasons tarts i hear about how good it's looking for them, and they never seem to lose old bad habits

that is pretty much every philly team actually. it always turns out disappointing and shitty. i long for the years from 80-83

know what was great? when the jays beat the phillies in the world series. ah, the 90s.. but that's another thread.
the leafs haven't won the cup since '67, i think (or maybe it was a bit earlier in the 60s) and i don't think they're going to win it again for quite some time.. fucking leafs. but i'm liking the oilers this year, so if toronto completely falls apart i can always jump ship and cheer for edmonton. also: gretzky's 0-2 as a coach now. |

in an interview before the season, gretsky flat out said he might suck as a coach.
i mean, at least he's being realistic.

well, gretzky got his first win. i think he'll do alright as a coach, but he hasn't got the best team to work with..
also, it looks like i might have been right all along, telling people that edmonton is looking like a solid team this year. they still have plenty of time to completely fall apart, but i really hope they do well. and after all the hype the flames have gotten since their big run to the stanley cup finals they've been awfully underwhelming! but give them a bit more time to gel and get their really shitty defence/penalty-kill up to par, and i'm sure they'll be fine. |
