Lets remember videogames we used to play...

And of course. The 2 most important games of my childhood.

ah good old apogee...

actually, apogee games are pretty much the only games that i don't still play

I totally ruled the original duke nukem's ass. I beat it too, not cheat or anything, if there even were any. I still have to floppy discs for it.

raublekick 11-28-2006 04:48 PM

hell yeah dude, i used to play duke nukem a lot, and then i found duke nukem ii in a crap bin at the mall for $1.

I am gonna totally beat this thread to death, I keep remembering awesome games I used to play when I was kid and my list keeps growing, and growing...So many good memories.

Here are a few more that I remember...

Simant was such a beautiful and complex game, and you seriously learned so much, I was completely transfixed by ants for years after this, even eating them for food while camping sometimes.

Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego? I found her and her henchmen so many times. It was awesome I still have the map, Fodor's travel book that came with the game. Also very educational as well.

SimCity, hands down coolest game and consumed so many of my man hours dealing with natural disasters, contrusting enough police stations to deal with crime, mmmmm and good old power shortages w/ pollution.

And before I go back to work I have to say two more 7th Guest and 11th Hour, I loved them both they were scary and I beat 'em but only after walking through them with my friend over the phone for hours, and hours, doing the same exact thing trying to solve the puzzles, we would have our parents drive us to the other's house so we could solve the puzzles together in person if they complained about taking up the phone lines. Lovely games both of them.

The reason I begged for a Playstation in 1996.

i used to use the map editor and build my own levels. i used it even when i had my 64. when golden eye 64 came out i had made a fairly exact replica of the Bunker multi player level. except i added a few hiden doors and you could jump off the missile silo platform into the water to find some extra amo.

I never played the original, but we got a copy of II for free with something... I think that's also how I came across biomenace.

Optimus Funk 12-01-2006 02:02 AM

I think the only true Duke Nukem was indeed the first one. I believe it so much that I am willing to send you my copy of the original Duke Nukem, as long as you meet these guidelines....
A. You will play Duke Nukem until you complete it (only if your computer can indeed still run DOS games)
B. Speak no ill will of the franchise ever!
C. Eat and drink only canned meats and sparks and no canadian beer for the 3 days after receiving said game
D. Realize evolution is a law and no longer a theory
E. Pluto is a fucking planet!
(if you hit three of the 5 then you can have my copy to borrow!, that is open to anyone, sparky, I mean stormy gets first dibs though for having the second and never playing the first, which is heresy)

Optimus Funk 12-01-2006 02:09 AM

Speaking of heresy I played, Doom, and Heresy all the time too, in addition to the games I mentioned before. They both ruled as well!

duke 3d was great, i dont know about the 'first' nukem though. i think the franchise greatly improved once it left the side scrolling and took some notes from bruce campbell.

wasn't it.. heretic? or maybe one was the sequel to the other??

i always thought duke nukem 2 was the best.

i still play commander keen games sometimes, because they're fantastic. (dosbox is a great program :))

and i'm sure we've all spent our fair share of time playing sierra games?? quest for glory? police quest? king's quest? space quest? leisure suit larry!?! the list goes on

Optimus Funk 12-01-2006 12:55 PM

I ruled at police quest, I loved how every week in the game I had to go down to the shooting range and requalify to be a gun holding officer :). And in the end I did manage to get that crazy killer tranny bitch with a hair-spray flamethrower.....ahhhh memories.
