I think it went well. I'm about 90% sure that I'll get the job. The people at the company I work for now are gonna be so pissed if I quit for this other position 'cuz I pull like double my own weight and it will take a long time to familiarize a new hire with the intricacies of what we do. There is only one other dude that does the job that I do, and he doesn't perform anywhere close to the level that I perform at (not trying to sound mean or be conceited in anyway, it's just true). I guess the main reasons fueling my desire to leave my current job are that: the processes we go through are so redundant (pull the machines outta the boxes, ghost them with images, add/remove hardware, do the operating system and software configurations, allow "burn-in" time, QC, prep for shipping -- over and over and over..), I like the projected hours better at the one I interviewed for today, there doesn't seem to be much opportunity for advancement working where I do now, a lot of heavy lifting (these rack-mounted computers weigh anywhere from 50-65 lbs., and we are required to lift them multiple times everyday), and, of course, the 8K per year pay increase over the position I hold now. All the people I work with now are atleast 10 years older than me -- no shit -- so I find it hard to socialize with them a lot of the time. There are many more people at this other company around my age, and there seems like there would be much more variety in my duties and responsibilities, which I welcome.
Anyway..I should know by Monday of next week if I am to be hired or not. I'll let ya know. ;)
