Vantec AVOX Jukebox [Overclockers.com Review]
The people over at Overclockers.com did a review on an interesting little device, an external device in which you place a 2.5" hdd, copy over video/audio/photo files, and then allows you to hook it up to a television or other device with a/v jacks to view/hear the files.

i have to tell you, that there is pretty awesome.
i wonder how prohibitively expensive it is. |
I really wouldn't call it expensive in the least, just $120.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16855182001 People spend much more than that on crappy iPods that do less..although have to wait and see how dependable this new toy is. |
you would also need to supply a harddrive for it, correct? in any case, $120 seems fairly reasonable for that thingy (if, like you say, it is dependable and actually works.. and what not)
|
Yep, 2.5" (laptop) hard drive. Yeah, those aren't the cheapest, but I'm guess they decided to use those in order to keep the device to a smaller size. Doubt I'll ever find a use to get one myself, but ya never know, could be handy for a quick way to watch downloaded movies on the big screen without wasting writable media.
