$11 Billion in fraud = 25 years prison
 

The founder of what was once the mega-corp WorldCom, Bernard Ebbers, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the $11 Billion scandal. They've yet to determine whether or not to let him have bail, he reports to prison in October.

(surely bail wouldnt' be a problem eh? You KNOW he's got a little bit of that money set aside still...)

hey, a famous canadian!? (i don't really know much about him, but apparently he was born in edmonton.. don't actually if he lived in canada very long) in any case, i don't understand what makes these people think they can get away with whatever the feel like doing. it's madness!

Greed, that's all it was, but, it doesn't make sense, he was worth hundreds of millions, if not a billion or more, legitly. Maybe his wife pushed him to do it or something, who knows. All I know is that if I had that type of thing going for me (the business, which itself was worth billions), I sure as fuck wouldn't be throwing it away, THAT'S madness.

i think the concept of not dealing with capture but to not fuck up in the first place should be instructed in school

WorldCom filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection shortly before all of this was uncovered. He knew his business was going down in flames and he tried to get as much of it as he could and get out of there.

So Worldcom is involved in one of the biggest scandals in telecommunications history, yet ... the next year, they're rewarded by being contracted by the Feds to wire Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. ... makes a lot of sense.
