thecreeper 07-30-2007 10:16 PM

so what's everyone up to?

all 3 of you out there...

Stormy 07-31-2007 08:16 AM

Just got a job in England for next year. :D

I guess I'm spending the next month packing and preparing for the move over. I'm mostly just spending time with friends I won't see in awhile, going to work (~9-5), working out, reading and cooking. My life is pretty mundane right now, but I'm enjoying myself, and I think that's what matters.

Thats awesome Stormy, :) Where at in England? As long as it's not in Scouserland I'm sure you'll love it...but if you do find yourself up in Liverpool/Merseyside, watch your hubcaps. *nods*

Anyway, England is lovely...absolutely lovely, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. :)

I'll be in Plymouth, and without a car (which is fine--I'm currently vehicle-less, and I enjoy it).

I'm almost positive I'll love it, but I know there will be people and things in the States which I'll miss (and some of whom will miss me). I only hope I have enough money to travel relentlessly.

i start college on the 27th and yes i am 24. i currently have no job and i live with my mom. i actually plan on living with my mom for the next two years. however, i will be looking for a job soon. its hard to find a job you dont find degrading at 24 with no education.

just thought i would add i havent always lived with my mom. i moved out at 17 came back at 18, moved out again at 19 and moved back at 23. for some reason knowing i tried leaving the nest and failed sounds better in my head than just living at home all this time.

i like to think im not as big as a loser as i sound on paper.

oh and my 3 year anniversary with my girlfriend was yesterday.

congrats to stormy for the overseas job and hex for the start of college and the anniversary.

i've just been working, learning lot's of stuff. i actually feel a professional. it's weird. i have a halfway decent job, a halfway decent car, and a halfway decent amount of money, which is a big shift from wearing the same pants for a month, scraping by paycheck to paycheck, and driving an oldsmobile.

Everyone''s step into college is different. Some of my favorite fellow students were in their 30s with kids. I find they're the ones who really want it, and who get it. You can't be a loser if you're looking out for yourself (and others, as demonstrated by your lengthy relationship), you know?

Best of luck to you, Hex!

:), well vehicle-less might be a good thing, you won't have to worry about those silly Brits driving on the wrong side of the road. :)

And Plymouth is okie, much better than up norf, at least.

You'll have to start getting into the 'Beautiful Game' though, living in England. :)

I'd always recommend anybody who goes to England for an extended period of time and whom likes sports to go to at least one soccer (football) match while there if for no other reason than to enjoy the atmosphere. Nothing in America can compare...closest would probably be the BIG BIG BIG college football rivalries. And none of them could compare to the big derby (rivalry) matches in England.

I'd suggest catching one of the North London Derby matches on tv if you can...but then I'd rather you not watch my beloved Tottenham get killed by Arsenal again. *sigh*

well im glad to hear that while the board has been dead, at least a lot of you are up to big things in your life.
