DC++ hub?
I'm not sure if this topic has ever been brought up, but, what would you guys say to a Direct Connect hub? The hub wouldn't be that big, since there aren't many active members, but, hey, why not?
Remember the days when just about every Deks/TTT member had their own FTP? Everybody swapping the same Playstation and DreamCast rips. |
I've never heard of it, what's entailed?
Direct Connect is a type of p2p app, where users join/create different hubs and share their files.
We could have a TTT hub, and whoever wants to can join and share their files. |
jep tried to start something like this up a while ago (with grouper), and it was a failure. i think it was only jep, neil, sharkz, wonko, and i who downloaded the program and joined the group, and even then, i hardly ever went online, and i don't remember ever seeing wonko online. very little file sharing went on, i think :(
i'd be down. i don't have much to share but i'd love to leech :D
I've got quite a bit to share but while grouper was going i was at Rezidence with their rediculous firewalls so that people couldn't download off me at anything faster than 1kb/s. I should have a better upload speed now and i've got tons of music and movies to share. I'm in. Insofar as it is legal, *ahem*.
i'd be all about it.
note: DC is alot better that grouper. especially because you're actually downloading files not just streaming them. |
Yea, Grouper blows.
Who wants to run the DC++ hub? I'd offer to run it, but my folks make me turn my computer so it doesn't run up the bills. You don't need a super fast connection to run the hub or anything, just a reliable connection. http://www.neo-modus.com/ |
is there a way to switch up who runs it? i got a nice upstream but i'd rather not have to dedicate my computer to keeping something up.
I suppose 2 or 3 people could rotate if they wanted. Only thing is we'd need to keep the IP to the hub updated as it was being hosted by somebody else.
im in.
I'm not, but, #zero-signal on efnet, Only have about 40-50 gigs of stuff shared though.
*edit* But hell, I'll host the hub on my server, it's always up.. |
Um..that was easy.
Hub is thetesttube.kicks-ass.net port 1090 Right now if you don't have 1KB of share stuff, it won't let you connect, and I don't see how to change it. So share a fucking text file or something. |
thanks so much
yesterday i was on another hub and going "god, doesn't someone at TTT already have a server that's up they could put the hub on?" thanks again, don. i'm on now. i'm only sharing my beck stuff right now but i'll soon have the rest of my collection shared. btw, quick link for anyone that has it enabled: dchub://thetesttube.kicks-ass.net:1090 |
i'll check it out tonight or tomorrow, thanks donnie
I can't seem to connect.
Yeah, just got home from my mri, looks like it knocked me and sharkz off it. Gimme a few.
Done.
i keep forgetting about this. i'll have to look in on it later.
i've been on it every day for a week
c'mon, guys! |
it was jesse's stupid idea, at least he should be online too
Yeah...I suppose I could idle on it too..
i'm in
Thanks for the NIN accoustic album, donnie |
NP...I'll probably have more shared once I get my server reorganized.. but that's like cleaning my room and shit, always gets put off.
Im all up in there now
I have odd taste in music, so ... whatever. :P |
this is no fun by myself
ok i'm gonna try it today, i swear
jesus it's gonna be a while for it to index my music folder... hopefully i'll be able to connect
ok i'm in but i guess no one else is
Cool jess, gonna add you to my xfire list...back on topic..
I was unable to download anything off of you the other day (jess), go to browse and it wasn't even able to retrieve your list. Same thing is happening with raub now, looking though neils files just fine though. |
yeah my router is probably fucking you over, i'll try to fix it, but i wasn't able to last time i tried
Hmm, just place the ip of your computer into the DMZ, and it should work fine, you may have to reboot the router for it to take effect, not always though.
see that's the problem, i can't get into my router because i didn't think i needed to follow verizon's instructions or use their installation CD. the CD activates your accoutn and sets up an account for the modem/router. i of course just hooked up all the cables and got online. so it works, but i can't get into the router to do DMZ and all that stuff. i tried running the cd later and it didn't work.
What kind of router do you have?
it's a Westell Versalink DSL modem/router/wireless router combo. Verizon sent it to me after lightning hit out house and blew our old one.
Ooo..yeah, one of those combo jobs, yeah, I'd say just do the installation by the books like ya said.
yeah i'm thinking i might have to reset the modem (the little reset button thingy) before i do so. hopefully i won't fuck it up and prevent myself from going online.
Well..resetting the router will probably reset all the pppoe or whatever settings in the router...
yeah but i didn't do that last time and it didn't work. i think it's because the cd wants to verify or activate the account or something and it's like "omg alreddy konnected no need to proceed" and then it just stalls out for a little until i click the x
Well...go through it by the book and if you still have issues call up those fags at verizon...ugh, that word verizon makes me shiver.
