So I got a pretty sweet job today.

So there's this phone outsourcing company about 10 minutes from my school, and they hire a lot of college kids. I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with how these places work, but companies will look for call centers they can hire to take care of their customer support and all that fancy stuff. And evidentially this call center has been hired by EA Games to do Rock Band customer service. So today after my interview, they offered me a job. I'll be taking calls from people who need any part of their Rock Band equipment replaced. I'll take their information, and get them some working hardware sent out to them.

Hours are flexible, and pay isn't that bad for a 'still in college' job. And my new girlfriend also got hired on the same EA Games contract. Seems like it won't be a typical boring job.

If any of you broke bastards actually bought Rock Band, maybe one of your instruments will break, and you'll have to call me.

i plan on buying rock band soon if it works on my tv. can i just send you a PM if my guitar or drums are bunk?

Jesse 01-30-2008 06:34 PM

Umm, not sure just yet. I'll know once I've done my training and actually done a few calls. I think you could just get away with sending a PM, but I really have no idea.

FUCK, I HATE IT WHEN I HIT BACK AND IT DOESN'T SAVE MY TEXT!

That's cool, cause I want to get Rock Band this weekend or next..

And, why wouldn't rock band work with your tv raub, what kind do you have?

heX 01-31-2008 11:50 AM

my gf just got rock band, so i guess ill call now, just to comlain, untill i talk to you.

Jesse 01-31-2008 12:52 PM

I think the chances of you actually reaching the call center I work at are pretty slim. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of other call centers in in the country taking calls for EA as well.

Guitar Hero 3 is abysmal to try to get the a/v synced up on my TV. It's a Magnavox HDTV.

I basically can't play GH3, because I can never get it synced well enough that I can't notice a lag between the notes and the sound. I first realized there was a problem when I failed My Name Is Jonas, a song that I have known by heart since 1994, since which I have also played guitar, several times.

thecreeper 01-31-2008 11:02 PM

awesome dude, sounds like a pretty sweet gig.

GT2000 01-31-2008 11:42 PM

Wow, that is pretty horendous... have you tried different audio setups, like through a receiver instead of the tv itself?

I can honestly say.. I played GH2 last week for about a day, beat it on easy and medium, and I cannot play it on hard.. 5th fret kills me.. I just borrowed GH3 from a friend today.. beat it on easy and medium, although medium gave me a fight at the end.. had to reattempt the last battle, and beat it with like 52% notes hit.. (lou blows).

Still torn, want to get rock band for the drums mainly.. going to try it at a friends tomorrow, he didn't have it out this morning when I went, want to try the drums, before I decide if I want to drop $150 on it at sam's..

I figure the drums could be a decent light work out for my arm anyways..

GH3 is definitely the hardest of the bunch. The drums could definitely be a good workout. The drummer for Battles apparently had some shoulder injury from snowboarding, and he plays his drums kinda weird now. Watch the video for Atlas and you can kinda see it.

I haven't tried it through anything but my TV because I don't have anything but my TV :) Soon I will have a surround sound setup though, so hopefully it will work.

GT2000 02-02-2008 12:12 AM

Ended up getting the 360 version today after trying out the ps3 version this morning, the drums are a good work out on my shoulder, and the kick pedal ain't no joke either..

Hope that works out for ya with the surround sound.

yeah dude, definitely make sure you have a good set up for the kick pedal, because your leg WILL HURT A LOT if you are sitting too low to the ground.

GT2000 02-02-2008 01:55 PM

I just sit on my futon (couch) when I'm playing.

Jesse 02-02-2008 03:25 PM

Just got back from the first day of training, which included lots of reading, and a couple hours of just playing Rock Band. Not a bad day of training I'd say.

As of last Monday, the call center I work at is the only one in the country that's taking customer service calls for Rock Band. So if you call for support, there's a chance you may end up getting me.

thecreeper 02-04-2008 05:01 PM

can i call customer support specifically to talk to you?

i mean, i dont have the game or anything, but that would be handy.

Jesse 02-04-2008 05:37 PM

Umm, I'm not sure if that type of thing is allowed. I'll have to ask.

GT2000 02-08-2008 05:33 PM

Can I call you to complain how winded and sweaty I get after playing the drums on medium for an hour?? /joke

Liss 02-08-2008 09:02 PM

Hmm. I tried playing rock band. I was drunk, but I'm pretty sure that I failed 6 times in a row just because I am video game inept. I am an anti-rock band bassist now.

thecreeper 02-13-2008 12:13 AM

i may have to embarass myself in rock band this weekend.

hoo boy.
