Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone!

I've seen a good deal of this in my own household. Getting my sister to do homework is a furious battle for my parents. I went through a stage in 4th grade where I just didn't do homework, and I failed English because of it. It's not that I didn't know the stuff, I didn't like homework and having to read hundreds and hundreds of pages each month. And of course, I still don't like doing homework and I quite often don't. If I don't understand a concept I'll read up on it and maybe do a few problems from a book.

I had a 3.4 average this semester and I only did the projects. I paid AMAZING attention during class and studied before tests, but I didnt really touch the book in between.

I didnt do ANY homework in high school, thank god they didnt check. I never liked homework, i never failed a class tho, which is good, I just learn better through listening i guess, its like put a book in front of me and its like, "okay, time to do some calculus! here we go! the sin of the unit cir- ::collapses into book followed by LOUD SNORE::"

yeah the on;y reason i failed that class was because homework was ALWAYS graded, and it was all bullshit stuff like "we learned about X today, now make some stupid thing out of a milk box" and i never did it. i always did well on the in class stuff like tests

this is almost every math class i've ever had at college. instead of teaching us, many teachers relied on the class to do all the homework problems the night before to teach themselves and then review it in class the next day. the problem is that teachers are supposed to TEACH. and every night with homework, especially 20 or more problems, is tedious and pointless. if i know how to do something, i don't need it reinforced 15 times.
