haiku

anybody remember beos? well haiku may be of interest to you. the first release/version of haiku is still being developed, so you can't download an iso image and install it yet, though you could play with it using a vmware test image if you're so inclined.

haiku looks pretty promising to me. i'm not sure if it will turn out to be as good as i think it will, but hey.. anything's possible.

haha man...

i dunno, the Haiku website makes it look really interesting, but it's still just a BeOS clone... i just don't think i could handle that WM style, and it seems like the BeOS scene is just now catching up on A LOT.

ah rauble, the only person i thought would reply!

i like the idea behind be, and i'm sure i could get used to that wm style :P i'm trying to be less fussy these days. i think the reason why the beos people are playing catch-up is because be has been defunct for a while. but zeta came along (i think they're working towards version 2 currently) and haiku is making their own advancements.

so i'm gonna give haiku a chance when i think it's ready. they've already stated that it'll be quite some time before it all comes together, so to speak. their first release won't be too special; i don't think things will really start to get good until versions 2, 3, etc. they're kinda working from the ground up, so it takes time.

yeah i am very curious how both Haiku and Zeta will pan out. right now neither of them have anything unique to offer other than the fact that they are BeOS clones. although, the longer it takes the more every other OS gets ahead of them.
