no clue here, sorry

if you download the openoffice.org suite, it comes with a powerpoint program (though it is not powerpoint, exactly, it still works the same)

ok thanks so much!

i actually think openoffice has better consistancy between versions of powerpoint.

i did a presentation on a PC version of PowerPoint last semester, tested it on a MAC G5 before class, and then when we loaded it on the classroom's iBook, it was all fucked up.

i've never had that problem with OO

thecreeper 01-18-2006 04:48 PM

same here, i've made 3 presentations in it, and they all worked fine on windows machines.

llanowar 01-20-2006 10:40 AM

i downloaded it and some of my documents work but the ones i really need open in 'writer' and not in 'impress' which is what i think they need to open in. can anyone help me?
this is getting very frustrating

thecreeper 01-23-2006 04:58 PM

hmm, i would say open Impress itself first, and open the file from there. what is the extension on it?

i can try it on my computer if it is an issue.

(sorry this took so long)

it was powerpoint file but i got it open. i dont know what was wrong with it

ok cool.

openoffice isnt perfect, but its free and its getting a lot better.

My job requires me to maintain compatibility among nearly everything windows.. which means opening one of like twenty MS office 2003 programs and making it readable for someone else. Or saving it AS an office file and double checking (otherwise known as totally reformatting the code/text/graphics) to make sure everything is kosher.

You DO NOT want Office 2K3. Access, Excel, Infopath, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word.

Bleh, Office 97.. where'd you go, to?
