anyone else watch that 18 inning astros-braves game?

that was ridiculous.

Mike 10-12-2005 01:58 AM

One of the best games I've ever seen ... and I was entirely wasted, too.

I'm glad that neither the Yankees nor Red Sox made it... despite being a die-hard Red Sox fan. I wanted something new. SO far, the Playoffs have gone as I had thought...

I posted this at another forum before they happened, and it's generally how I think it'll turn out:

==========================================
American League Divisional Series
New York Yankees @ Anaheim Angels: Angels in three games
Boston Red Sox @ Chicago White Sox: White Sox in five Games

American League Championship Series
Anaheim Angels @ Chicago White Sox: Angels in six games

-------------------------------------------

National League Divisional Series
San Diego Padres @ St. Louis Cardinals: Cardinals in four games (losing the first)
Houston Astros @ Atlanta Braves: Houston Astros in five games

National League Championship Series
Houston Astros @ St. Louis Cardinals: Astros in seven games

-------------------------------------------

2005 World Series
Houston Astros @ Anaheim Angels: Angels in six games.

i think the white sox can handle the angels.

yea, that was a heartbreaker.... The home plate umpire was shady about his strike zone... he kept giving houston strikes 6 inches off the plate.. I remember one case in extra innings where Chipper went down to a quick 0-2 count from 2 pitches that were easily balls on the "k-zone".

Houston got lucky to eek by in the 8th, barely scraping together infield hits to load the bases for the slam. But the braves still blew it (again) and refused to make something happen even when Houston was drawing thin on pitchers and had Berkman out of the game for alot of the extra innings.

I guess the bright side is the that we have some promising young guys. If bobby would fix the gd bullpen.....

I don't see how Houston is going to beat to St.L....

i think houston has better pitching this time around, so that might help them out. but i would generally agree that st. louis has the edge in this series.

i'd say that st. louis deserve to win the world series this year--they've certainly played well enough--but i'm still cheering for the white sox, at this point.

Thorne 10-26-2005 09:34 AM

whoops

thecreeper 10-26-2005 10:59 AM

the sox are just beating some astro ass right now.

it doesn't seem to matter how far they are down, they always come back.

johnny 10-26-2005 12:58 PM

i definitely don't see houston winning four games in a row

it's obviously because the astros don't have any black guys

johnny 10-26-2005 05:28 PM

well if joe morgan says that it's difficult to get black kids into baseball, i'm not sure what major league baseball can do. i mean, it's their choice to like or not like things, like different sports..

I dunno why Bud Selig is apologizing and saying he feels really bad about this. It's not his fault. It's like hockey, sometimes certain races just don't want to play a sport. it doesn't mean they are racist because they dont have a certain quota of black guys on the team.

johnny 10-27-2005 09:48 AM

that's what i'm sayin'.

in other news: sox win the world series!

GT2000 10-27-2005 10:05 AM

Yeah, nothing to be concerned with really...some of the best ever in baseball were black..mutha fuckin hank aaron.

testtubebaby 10-27-2005 10:27 AM

there's no crying in baseball!!

GT2000 10-27-2005 11:15 AM

perhaps that is why the black man isn't interested in baseball anymore; sometimes they get emotional and have to cry, but according to colin there's no crying in baseball? i don't think that i'm on to something
