gas prices

Just wondering what everyone's paying across the continent. I paid 3.05 today in Riverside, CA, and spotted a sign for 3.09 in Hollywood on Sunday.

squirrels2nuts 04-19-2006 05:50 PM

1.09
...
per litre.

Marshall 04-19-2006 05:59 PM

I paid 2.85 per gallon yesterday in Georgia.

:(

i think i heard on the radio this morning that prices were closing in on 110 cents/litre here in toronto. sucks for people who drive, i guess.

raublekick 04-19-2006 06:49 PM

about 2.90

i realized today that i go through about 10 gallons per week, which is about 1.3 gallons per day, which is $3 per day to go to school.

i got gas a few days ago and it stopped at $19.50, and i was pretty happy, but then i realized that it stopped too early and was only about 2/3 full.

thecreeper 04-19-2006 07:56 PM

2.81 today at a wawa. everywhere else was at least 2.90.

GT2000 04-19-2006 08:12 PM

mid 2.90s, at most pumps for regular, seen low 3s at some stations.

Optimus Funk 04-19-2006 08:15 PM

Puffy Shirt with ties - 65.00
Eye patch - 8.00
Fake parrot - 12.50
Stealing gas while dressed like a pirate.....Priceless

Oh and I doubt I need to mention it but 0.00 per gallon

squirrels2nuts 04-19-2006 08:40 PM

ya i bought a siphon for $3. maybe ill use it sometime.

Jesse 04-20-2006 01:30 PM

It's around the 3 dollar mark in Maine.

GT2000 04-20-2006 05:23 PM

My friend has a siphon...I too might be using it, especially with the gas shortages.

Liss 04-20-2006 09:31 PM

3.11!!

squirrels2nuts 04-20-2006 09:48 PM

i got gas

who woulda thought a depleting, exploitable, non-renewable resource would escalate in value during a politically funded war for supply, and run by the very same oil tycoons who are jackin' up the prices?

GT2000 04-20-2006 10:54 PM

I found regular for 2.89 today, jackpot!

well no shit. that doesn't mean it sucks any less.

teensupernothing 04-21-2006 07:13 AM

it's between 2.75 and 2.85 most places in jersey. freaking sucks. $42 to fill my tank from empty, and that was just over a week ago when gas was a little bit cheaper. earlier this week i put $30 in and it was like, half a tank, maybe a bit more 16mpg really, really sucks right now.

Mr Biglesworth 04-21-2006 07:19 AM

Good ol' bike.

heX 04-21-2006 09:49 AM

2.85/2.95 is pretty standard around here.

Jesse 04-21-2006 01:51 PM

I remember when I got my license, gas was about $1.30/gal.

raublekick 04-21-2006 03:15 PM

gas was still under a buck when i got my license, ah the good old days. if i didn't have to drive so far for everything i'd use my bike all the time.

squirrels2nuts 04-21-2006 04:40 PM

ya, i should steal me another bike soon.

Mr Biglesworth 04-21-2006 06:50 PM

what happened to the last one?

Liss 04-24-2006 10:34 PM

3.17 when i walked by the mobil on the way to school today...3.25 when i walked by going the other way. (!?) i think i'm going to walk to alabama in june, since i won't be able to afford to leave the state of california by then.

i'm gonna be telling my kids about how i got gas for $0.76 the first time i got gas with my permit, and $0.85 the first time i got gas with my license. shit, 10 bucks got you more than a full tank. then i will hit those horrible god forsaken children.

teensupernothing 04-25-2006 07:03 AM

the cheapest i've ever paid for gas was $2.25... right now the cheapest i can find is around $2.83

heX 04-25-2006 07:11 AM

i remember not buying gas if it was over a buck. that was my rule or thumb back in the day. "over a dollar? keep on drivin."

Stormy 04-25-2006 09:16 AM

Let's just say I'm glad I drive a hybrid.

Liss 04-25-2006 10:34 AM

Yea, when I got my license I was paying about .97...I remember when it hit a dollar I was pissed off.

yes, yes, do tell! those civic hybrids look pretty sweet. i'm still a little shakey on them, cus i keep reading stuff that debunks the greatness of the hybrid. i want to know how you like yours though.

Stormy 04-25-2006 01:38 PM

Well, it's actually my dad's. But I drive it when I need something temorarily at school. It's a honda civic; real cute, drives smoothly, quietly (mostly when it is in rest briefly, I notice this lapse in background noise). I can drive from Richmond to Charlottesville and back twice on one tank of gas. That's about four hours with one tank, give or take 40 minutes. Plus, on the gas gage, there's also a battery gage, and when you aren't accelerating and are traveling at a good enough speed, it'll start to charge the battery (this is shown by green lines); this makes driving on the interstate a bit like a video game, where the goal is to see how charged I can make the battery.

It also has a nice economy air conditioning feature, where it'll turn the air off when you stop the car at at other times, to help conserve energy. I'm an amateur at gauging how "superior" one car may be from another, but this one drives well, and it saves me costs on gas.

heX 04-25-2006 02:12 PM

sounds pretty sweet. im looking into a hyrbid for my next car. right now i have the next best thing a small 4 cylinder. i only fill up once a week for 17 dollars. mind you thats whith out being bone dry on gas, ive ran out and had to walk too many times.

thecreeper 04-25-2006 02:14 PM

only four hours on one tank? i drove a little about 4.5 hours this weekend to massachusetts and i got 4 hours on one tank too. and my car is pretty shitty with fuel. of course, it cost me 35 to fill it up too.

squirrels2nuts 04-25-2006 02:40 PM

ive never run outta gas before, but i am always on the red line. its kinda like Kramer, pushing Jerrys car to see how far it can go... i can usually get 500km per 50L ... 10km/L. not bad, i suppose, but i should prolly have a Jerry can, yuk yuk... i never fill up the entire 60L now; $10 gets above the red line enough to drive for a few more days of work.
i should try some jetfuel in my shitty '95 cli-taurus because my friend refuels planes at the airport. now that would be an octane boost! wouldnt do much good with my leaking brake lines. ever drive with no brakes? unnerving, to say the least.

from what i can tell, if yer looking into hybrids, toyotas got the best one: the prius. but even their little toyota echo is awfully good on fuel. i think they renamed the echo recently.. yaris, or something silly like that.

i'd guess it has a much, much smaller tank. and hybrids aren't really designed for fast highway travel, because the battery can't sustain high speeds for long distances. but if people support them, maybe we can get them better and better.

thecreeper 04-25-2006 05:32 PM

yeah i figured that, i mean...my car is a piece of shit, so yeah.

jubjub

Mike 04-25-2006 05:37 PM

Yeah, the Toyota Prius is the best Hybrid car available. It's actually a really good car as well ... the first Hybrid car to not be a piece of shit.

THe thing is, if you drive a Hybrid car like any other car, then you're going to get essentially the same gas mileage. If you do only city driving, then you'll get great gas mileage because it'll run on the battery for like 85% of the time and using the breaks will automatically recharge the battery. If you do a lot of highway driving, though, then you won't see any more of a difference than you would in a similarly classed car.

This is the first generation of hybrids that haven't been a scam.

You came to Massachusetts and you didn't visit me.......

Well, I probably wouldn't have let you into my apartment anyway.
