[Hacks] Installed/Requested
 

Been bored today, so I've been pondering hacking the forum up just a tad bit. Only things I've done so far are made it to where the search engine spiders which are currently active on the site show up on the forum home page (still looking for a fix to display it on the actual front page).

Looking through other hacks for now, post here if there's something you'd like to see on the forum.

Yeah, apparently that option was in the control panel...to make the name and shit display on the side instead of on-top...I swear it wasn't there before version 3.5, however, could be wrong, too many options in there.

i actually liked the previous post layout more, but i can live with this.. i guess..

i'd like to see the return of the subtopic title hack, but i hate to impose.

And, I'm not sure I saw that anywhere...I guess if I come across it I'll add it, even though you can just mouse-over a thread link and get a preview of it anyways..

well this post layout is definitely more familiar, but with the other way, the body of a post pretty well had the whole width of the screen, and it just looked better to me. ::shrug::

and.. subtopic titles.. who needs 'em!? not me! >:0 just say what you want in the topic title

oh, and i said something about this before, but would a birthday notifier be possible at the bottom of the main forum section? that could be cool.

a birthday notifier would probably cause the creation of a few more birthday threads, which is cool, because we're probably all too lazy to open up vbulletin's calendar and check for birthdays every so often. (really you'd only have to consult the calendar once or twice a month.. but nobody ever uses the calendar.. at least i don't think they do. i certainly don't)

J/k, I just played each game like once to test them out, and yeah, I've seen this around before on other sites..decided it would be cool to have here, specially once I can add more games to it, they have a shit load of them that have been coded to work with the hack, like that yeti penguin batting one and stuff.. :)

Added all those yeti games..and stuff, a pool game, bowling game, just look, forget what in all I added..

Pondering adding the shoutbox hack to the forum, and then putting in the addon to make it only appear on the CMPS page, eh?!?

Also, still trying to see if I can get something done about reviving the Insomniacs Forum (it won't happen at all if it's something that has to be manually turned on and off).

i remember experimenting with chrontabs on the last server to execute a simple php script that would switch the vBulletin (or whatever it was) file that had the forum information between one that had the insomniacs forum turned on and one with it turned off.
As far as i recall, the script worked but the chrontabs didn't, coulda just been the server.

That must have been something prior to the vB...sounds like whatever it was..was using flat files instead of an sql database, aye?

That is pretty interesting however...because vB uses a scheduled task manager to setup cron jobs..basically set a time to run the specified .php file...basically what I need is a couple of php files with the database command to toggle a 1 to a 0 or something..and then I would just setup the scheduled tasks to run file a @ time x and file b @ time y...but, looking through the database right now..doesn't appear so simple..

Yep, you suck cock Neil...in a BIG way!!..makin me trudge through the database like that, I hate it when people stick ideas in my head!

So yeah, I have a better idea of what I need to do, and, now I have a better way of wording my requests for help towards the vB staff on this, hopefully by next weekend or something..
