TTTs unexpected re-birth.

So if anyone saw, in short, TTT had a hard drive failure in which all was lost, it sucks. This is the new hosting that Metallistar and myself will be splitting, that will never be an issue.

I made a post on the other forum about a main page, but, it went down before I could look for responses. Who wants it, who wants to help with it, who has ideas for it, etc.

Jesse 10-13-2004 01:06 PM

I want it. Very much so.

As for ideas, I think we should use a content management script like Nuke, or Mambo or something. Just something that could let us have our own sections of the site again. Kind of like how it was the first time we used PHPnuke.

I'd help any way I could.

GT2000 10-13-2004 01:09 PM

Yeah, this host actually would make that too damn easy. It has a feature which with a single click, you can install scripts from what they have available, and they have many a CMS to choose from.

Jesse 10-13-2004 01:19 PM

Nice. I was looking into getting some hosting soon. From what you've said these guys look pretty nice.

GT2000 10-13-2004 01:26 PM

http://www.liquidweb.com

Standard shared hosting plan.

Anonymous 10-13-2004 02:31 PM

This is distressing.

Stormy 10-13-2004 02:32 PM

Nice job logging in, Stormy.

raublekick 10-13-2004 02:40 PM

mweeeb

sharkz 10-13-2004 04:41 PM

ack.

as for the main page, fantastico us up a CMS, don. I'll write again..?

Jesse 10-13-2004 10:47 PM

Yea, there are what..10 or so members that post on a regular basis now? Why not just give us all our own small section in a CMS. Those that want it anyway.

sharkz 10-13-2004 11:52 PM

woohoo domain works

thecreeper 10-14-2004 10:46 AM

we need a site.

GT2000 10-14-2004 04:14 PM

Many options...

I'm looking at the things available with "Fantastico", what liquidweb uses for an auto-installer in the control panel, and, lots of shit...that's how I install phpbb, just made a single mouse-click.

There's 5 different Blog options..
There's 9 different options for a CMS..

Drupal
Geeklog
Mambo Open Source
PHP-Nuke
phpWCMS
phpWebSite
Post-Nuke
Siteframe
Xoops

So yeah, I'll be taking some time after I'm back in town (assuming I still leave town tomorrow for the weekend) to see which one works best.

Anonymous 10-14-2004 04:29 PM

okay

sharkz 10-15-2004 03:57 PM

well, I'd kind of like something where only the writers/admins need to have accounts, to keep the board seperate. of course, though, phpBB is the easiest forum software to intergrate with most of the major CMS stuff if we really felt the need to intergrate.

Just so that you know, Fantastico doesn't always install it's scripts properly. You'll find this with ... Geeklog, SiteFrame, phpWCMS, and like ... atleast half of those. PostNuke and phpNUKE seemed to work pretty well, as did Xoops, from what I recall. I dunno, maybe it's just my host was lame and never had the scripts running properly.

Anyway ... websites are teh ghey
Mike

sharkz 10-15-2004 07:41 PM

yeah, mike is right about fantastico being wacky.i forgot about that.

heX 10-15-2004 08:55 PM

i like the ideas so far, im up for doing anything to help the site along.

johnny 10-16-2004 07:57 AM

don't use xoops, because "xoops" is a stupid name.

Heh, how can one forget something that was never noticed in the first place?

Just looked at my paypal history, tossing you back that last payment now.

thecreeper 11-27-2004 02:58 PM

so can we start fixing up this place a little?
a new logo, avatars, attached uploaded images, custom rankings, front page, whatever...

johnny 11-28-2004 09:19 AM

no

never!

thecreeper 11-28-2004 11:30 AM

of course, what was i thinking...

johnny 11-29-2004 01:46 PM

well i think donnie's the only person with administrative privileges, so if he's busy then all the people who think something can be done with this website will just have to wait for him to get unbusy

"that wouldn't happen if elvis were my landlord"

Mike 12-21-2004 07:03 PM

There's a problem here where sometimes ... clicking "reply," "quote," or something that queries posting.php just goes back to the mainforums.

Peep it.
Mike

thecreeper 12-24-2004 03:33 PM

the same problem happens to me when i post at school. what OS and browser are you using mike? it's windows 2000 + IE that seem to cause the problem at school

Mike 03-03-2005 04:02 PM

It's happened on Mac OS X.2 (Safari) and XP Pro (IE and Firebird).

I also happen to think that I am a homosexual!
