Eh, all my pictures are too big and I'm almost too lazy... I'll upload some for you bastards.

Yeah, that's me and my girlfriend in Florida. It was fun. I mean, Florida sucks, but she's cool.

GT2000 08-05-2005 04:56 PM

Lol, sucks eh? What part?

I'm takin' Ana down to Orlando in a couple weeks, got an Aunt down there, plus I'm going to surprise her with a day at Disney World, when we first started talkin' about going I had said I probably couldn't afford to do it, but, now that I saw it'd be around $120 for the two of us (not including in-park costs of course), I'll get the tickets now and not tell her anything about it til the morning we go.

Mike 08-06-2005 01:18 AM

Nice nice. We were in West Palm Beach, on the East Coast... about ... like an hour and a half north of Ft. Lauderdale, roughly 2 hours from Miami. It was nice, we had a nice hotel and had a fun week. Saw a lot of giant fucking houses... like the biggest stretch of huge houses I've ever seen. There's a lot of nice beachfront property in Newport, RI and in Long Island, NY, but if you ever get the chance... drive down highway A1A (it paralells 95 and Florida's Turnpike around the West Palm area) and just check out some of the incredible mansions.

We stayed at a nice hotel called ... "Ocean Point" by Marriot, it was pretty good, on Singer Island, a small section of North West Palm Beach. There's a lot of great places for shopping, nice beaches, and some good (but usually pricey) restaurants. I'm not one for shopping, but the city of West Palm Beach itself has this entire shopping village called ... "City Place" or something like that... probably like 6 or 7 square blocks of outdoor malls... not like a traditional outdoor mall, they're all setup like the mainstreet of an old town, sort of like "Main Street, USA" in Disney World in Orlando, if you've been there. It was pretty cool... I don't care for shopping really, but my girlfriend likes it, and we had been doing mostly my stuff for the vacation (which is mostly nothing. I enjoy driving in foreign places and doing the same stuff every day--laying around in bed, going to the ocean, going to the bar, going to the pool, going to the bar at the pool, going to dinner, going to the pool at night, going to bed... it's my schedule pretty much every day there), and so she got to go into expensive stores and look at expensive clothes and try on shoes and shit... I dunno... it's weird... girls get a kick out of looking at stuff that would be entirely irrational to buy.

I have a lot of pics from the vacation, which I may post if I'm not too lazy (I have to make them smaller and compress them)... It was a nice place, I recommend it... though, not unless you have the option of a rental car / transportation. Our hotel / resort was kind of in the middle of nowhere in a little neighborhood, and you're about a 5 - 10 mile walk from a supermarket or anything else other than Riviera Beach, FLA ghetto.

GT2000 08-06-2005 02:05 AM

Beautiful..I'll be driving down, it's about a 14 hour drive, nothing crazy (for me), I want to leave at night, like, 9-10pm so we can get there in the morning, so, what I'll probably do is take a massive nap the day we leave so I'm rested enough to make the drive straight down without having to stop at a rest area and nap in the car.

I'll be sure to get pics as well..seeing as we'll be going to and staying in Orlando, no beaches close by, so I'm still thinkin' of where to stop on the way down or back up, or, take a full day while we are staying down there to drive to a different city, we'll be driving through Daytona of course, so that's an option, maybe they'll have the road open where you can drive on the beach itself, my uncle was telling me about that the other day.

Ah well, so much shit I'd like to do while there, no idea where to start though, but I'm sure my aunt will have some ideas.

Mike 08-06-2005 02:23 PM

Yeah, Daytona isn't that good in terms of like actually going to the beach because, like your Uncle Said, a section of route 1 is ... a beach highway. West Palm Beach is like two and a half to three hours from Orlando... Orlando is like right in the middle of the state, unfortunately, so it's about three hours from ocean on either side. Tampa is nice and so are some of the islands around Ft. Myers, both roughly 3 or so hours from Orlando.

Sounds like the trip will be a lot of fun. Good luck with the drive.

GT2000 08-06-2005 02:31 PM

Yeah, I was in New Symryna (sp?) in June for literally a single day. Lookin' at the map, I think we'll go to cocoa beach for a day, sucks that the shuttle is returning this coming week I believe, so no hope of seeing it land (assuming it lands in the same place as launch, I dunno..).

Cocoa Beach is only about 60 miles from Orlando, and it's ALL THE WAY on the east coast, similar to how the outer banks of NC are, should work out perfectly.

ah what the heck. here's me and my girlfriend in hershey this week:

GT2000 08-06-2005 05:48 PM

Just got off the phone with my Aunt in Orlando, she was stoked when I told her that I was going to be down there, and even more so when I told her that I was coming down there with my girlfriend. "Wow, *question 1*...*question 2*...have you popped the question yet?" "Do you plan on popping the question?" "Can't wait to meet her!"

I'm just glad that all my friends and family have been as excited about her as I am.

I haven't seen my aunt in 10 years, since my grandmother (her mom) died and she came up here for the service. I can't believe it's been so long, so this will be a nice trip, see family, see disney, and so on, maybe stop in Daytona to see the track. >:)

Mike, you were more towards the northern part of the east coast of florida correct? How was the water, my aunt tells me she still hears how the water further south on the atlantic side is disrupted from the hurricanes last year.

Now I'm thinking of going to a beach on the gulf coast of florida, I was told it's prettier there, plus the water is a bit calmer (on the regular), and I think that would be best since my girl isn't really a swimmer.

No way man.
People used to say that I looked like ...... this band ... and I'm forgetting the name of them, but they had one hit song where the singer was in like a mall or something, and the lyrics were like "Don't give up, you've got a reason to live... can't forget you always get what you give..." Well, I used to look like that guy when I had short hair.

And people used to say I looked like Billy Corgan when I had short hair and before he was too fucked up.

malta 08-07-2005 04:42 PM

"and the lyrics were like "Don't give up, you've got a reason to live... can't forget you always get what you give...""

Yes!

I used to shave my head in HS., which is where it comes from. Those of you who saw pics of me then may be able to see a resemblance.

but nofx is horrible :(

Mr Biglesworth 08-09-2005 12:51 PM

yeah, like green day and bad religion

johnny 08-09-2005 03:56 PM

nofx is pretty bad, but i used to love them. eh, i guess i still like them anyways, but i killed all their albums in early high school years. heavy petty zoo is probably the album that i would still enjoy the most. (or the maximum rock 'n' roll shit because of shitting bricks and the iron man cover 8))

hah, i actually put the comma there because i figured someone would make that joke.

raublekick 08-09-2005 05:30 PM

nofx is better than 90% of the other punk bands out there. but then again, i haven't listened to any nofx recently.

Cid 08-09-2005 05:53 PM

I don't paticularly like NOFX, I mean they're OK and all. I just though it was funny that he said Fat Mike. And the "more punk than you"...that's from the track at the end of Punk in Drublic...it's funny. And even if you don't like NOFX, you have to hand to Me First....

And hey, Bad Religoin is better than most of the shit people listen to anymore...if more people actually cared about depth in music, or bothered to learn some new words so they can understand the lyrics...

raublekick 08-09-2005 06:50 PM

pfft... bad religion is getting tired. america sucks and they're a punk band, it was cool years ago but now it's just getting boring. not saying they suck, because i like bad religion. i just think political rock gets BORING

Cid 08-10-2005 02:15 PM

But...it's not all political. I mean, MAYBE 2 or 3 songs on an album will be about politics...and they're never really "America Sucks" type lyrics. I mean, "New America" is really a pretty positive take on the country...maybe not everything ABOUT it...but in general.

I think you have to actually listen, and not just assume.
