yay for random bs thread!

so last week, against all odds, my computer ran Doom3....smoothly. I couldn't believe it, this computer has no business running that game. 1.6 ghz processor, 64mb GeForce2 video card, and 512mb ram really shouldn't run this demo as well as it does.

also, somehow i missed both my brother and my dad's birthday and didn't realize it till today, a full week late. i feel like an ass.

Interestingly, neither job seem like such a bad one to have now that I know I'm leaving (one of them at least). I probably won't leave my cooking job too soon, even though I think I might like to.

I remember one clearly: while at a sports arena, watching a football game, I had to urinate like a zebra fresh from the watering hole. The bathroom itself was very open, as the doorways were large cement threshholds, and most of the lighting was natural. There was a very creepy, middle aged man who had followed me down to the restrooms: thining, cinnamon-brown hair, a pasty, desperate complexion, and the type of trailer-stricken face one would expect to see sticking out of his red, flanel jacket. As the game was running, head-long, toward that endzone of "suspenseful," the bathroom was mostly deserted, and I found myself sitting on a toilet, with this man's pedophilic, steel eyes watching me from the doorway. There was so much tension in that moment of the dream, <i>conflict</i>, like a voyeuristic raping. I remember feeling vulnerable and violated the day I woke up after that.

Family Guy is the funniest of the three, but like creeper said, it's pretty dumb humor. plus it's all a rip on the simpsons. will American Dad be a ripoff of King of the Hill?

Older Simpsons is still hilarious, especially classics like the softball episode. I haven't really paid attention to the new episodes in the past few years though.

Futurama is great, but sometimes the humor is too lame.

So I check good-evil's forums (ok, not really theirs, but you get the drift) and find this shitty news?

I really expected the den to be closing soon, as their business had slowed to nothing over the past 4-5 years. Say all you want to defend the illegal downloading of music, but the lack of consequences for the guilty and the lack of foresight by the record industry that resulted in such a huge decline in sales recently. I really hope Dave (the owner) is able to go out and find a new way to support his family while still being able to enjoy what he does. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of music and loved what he did and helped me and a lot of others who worked there for quite some time.

Add in the fact that the prices in the Den were quite simply great (consistently $3-4 less than mall prices on new stuff, better selection, ordering of hard to find stuff, etc) and I think that Lancaster basically got screwed out of their best source to purchase music.

wellhere is what happened:

i decided to install another linux distro on my second hard drive, but it fucked up the the mbr and the boot config so i couldn't get back into windows. so i just reformatted my second harddrive, installed windows, grabbed all my important files from my first drive, reformatted the first drive and installed windows.

it was coming up wit a dual boot screen with two XP choices, whcih i guess it should. but then i set the bios to not boot from CD, but now it still brings up this:

Booting from ATAPI-CD:..... (first cd drive)
Booting from ATAPI-CD:......(second cd drive)
ERROR OMFG PLZ INSRT SYSTEM DISK KTHNX

so even though the bios is set to NOT boot from cd, it still is, and it won't boot from my hard drive (or else it just can't).

so now i'm transfering the files back onto my first harddrive, reformatting the second, not installing windows on it, just backing up the files again, and then reformatting/installing windows on my first drive...

i've done about 20 OS installs this weekend between XP, Ubuntu, and Fedora Core 2...

That should only be affected by the bios itself I'd think..if after backing things up to the one hard drive and installing windows on your first hard drive, you still get that, see what clearing the cmos does.

a good friend of mine came to me last night in a bind. He wrote and is directing a one act play that premiers in less than a week. He's gone through 3 female leads and the most recent one quit on moral standards.
