This is a cool program that allows one to connect to someone on the same grouper network as you. I think it'd be a cool idea, and would really streamline any future TTT mainpage updates and such, and also would allow us to share porn and music, so get it sign up and get on the network.

The Grouper client must be able to connect to the internet via:

1. The web (HTTP protocol, port 80, outgoing). This is used to check for Internet connectivity when you start the client.

2. Secure web sites (HTTPS protocol, port 443, outgoing). This is used to communicate securely with the Grouper Web Service over SSL.

3. The Grouper presence server (HTTP, port 19753, outgoing).


If you have a router or a firewall that blocks one of these connections, you need to configure it appropriately or, if using Grouper at work, consult with your system administrator. If your sys adim has concerns and questions about opening up access for you to be able to listen to music while at work (bandwidth, security, etc...), have them contact us. We'll talk some sense into them.

Grouper will not work if you connect to the Internet using a SOCKS (4 or 5) proxy server. We are working on adding this capability. Right now, you need a direct Internet connection.

As far as I can tell, the program only runs on our machines only, Grouper already has a protocol built in to only STREAM mp3s. Not so bad, you could listen to em and either download one of your own on kazaa, or ask em for it on AIM.

I am searching for instances that grouper is monitoring, but so far, i dont believe they do.

I don't think that's the issue. Nothing loads up or anything. I double click, and nothing happens. I posted in their bugs forum, hopefully they can offer some advice here.

I've got a pretty good library for share on there, but unforunately my residence's network connection has all sorts of shit in place to keep my transfer speed down for certain things. My roommate had an http tunnel to bypass that, but he had to subscribe to a pay-service to do that.
Still, I can download stuff at a decent speed, so everyone should join up. EVERYONE!

i dont think i am going to be able to join. our school monitors, and in most cases, issues warnings when people from the college are found to be uploading to others, sometimes regardless of what is being transferred, be it copyrighted or not.

unless i can turn file sharing off, i will probably have to stay off until another time out of school.
