Didn't really have an option for me (complete indifference), so I just picked "Wow, this shit sucks."
I don't really have any plans of running it anytime soon despite that I can get it for free. Pretty much every other CS student here agrees, which makes me really happy.

I got it and threw it on my laptop.. in my field its best that I have some experience with the latest winblows. My laptop isn't that bad.. but isn't that great.. and yet, it runs the aero theme with ease. Basically just using it on the side and figuring out what programs work good on it, and which ones don't work so good.. or at all.

voted: wow, it isn't worth the sticker.
i've been reading about it a fair amount.. though i haven't actually used it yet. i assume that it could be fairly useable, but definitely not worth the price tag.
also i'm not sure my machine would run it very well. that's a bad thing

Yeah.. nothing worse than spending a couple hundred bucks on software and finding out that you can't even run it without a hefty upgrade.

I've been using it for 2 or 3 weeks. I don't like it very much. I think I might go back to XP. I just don't like the feel of Vista. I'm not sure if my specs aren't beefy enough or what (p4 3ghz, 1gb ram, 545gb hdd space), but I just don't like the way it runs/feels.
I might be getting an Alienware Laptop, and Vista comes preloaded on it. Maybe it'll run better on that, cause the specs will be substantially better than my PC. I'll post again if I end up getting the laptop.

vista blows, it is a drm whore, but im more perturbed by its limited functionality. It limits a great deal of things that i prefer to customize myself. barring this, apart from macs, id have to get a good version of linux to get the most out of my 64x processor. Though i have made the decision to switch to linux eventually, im not sure if im ready for that switch yet.
my switch will likely not be to vista any time soon. Microsoft needs to stop pandering to corporations and start serving their user base. Taking functionality and digital freedom from their paying customers is something NO ONE should reward.

linux probably has better 64-bit support than any other OS at the moment. there's problems, but it is pretty well supported for all opensource projects. you can, however, just stick with a 32-bit version.
